Corporate Protection Group (CPG) provides strategy, insurance, and risk protection solutions to commercial clients of all sizes and across all business sectors.
“Risk management is about identifying risks, and setting up processes in advance to avoid those pitfalls.” says Jonathan Ruch, Director of Consulting at CPG.
“We put protocols in place to the mitigate risks our clients face. In doing so, we often uncover many other opportunities to improve the business, so while working to identify and fix those gaps, we also help entrepreneurs and business leaders to grow and scale their businesses while mitigating those risks, so that they can go and live their best life, without killing themselves trying to run the business” says Ruch.
Ruch describes his role with CPG Corporate Protection Group as both operations management and business consulting.
When asked about his journey to his current position Ruch shared that early in his career he hired a personal development and career coach. Little did he know that his coach would later become his boss.
With a background in operations management, people development and leadership, working with CPG was a great fit.
“The defining moment in my career is when I took responsibility for my own development.” said Ruch. “Many people expect their boss to develop and grow them. This is not how it works.”
“When I identified what I wanted, I got a coach who helped me to develop and gain clarity around my career goals. Once I got clarity, I knew what my next steps were. This was a defining period in my life. If you want to double your salary, triple your personal development. I just needed to identify my road map and align my life to where I wanted to go.”
Ruch attributes Dan Sullivan’s (Founder of Strategic Coach) book, How The Best Get Better as inspiration for his journey. “Sullivan talks about a paradigm shift in business. It is no longer about staffing a workforce, but about identifying who can bring value.”
“I have a young family. My future goal is to have a team in place so I can manage my work from my phone, while at DisneyLand, or at the cottage. I love working at CPG. Our leadership team is exceptional. I want to continue to grow and develop so I can have the freedom to spend time with my family.”
Staying on top of things, working with his Outlook calendar and using tools like Smart Sheets, Monday.com and Trello help him to stay organized. Jon says he looks at life in the same way he looks at work projects. Journaling, reflecting, having a clear vision and delegating are all keys to Jon’s success. Skills he highly recommends to others seeking to build a better life.
When asked to name people in his life who have been his biggest inspiration, Ruch said, “My parents, and my boss, Brad”.
