Meet Akosua Joy Brown: Champion of Stories and a Pillar of Our CoWork Community

At the heart of the Cotton Factory’s CoWork space is a vibrant community of creatives, entrepreneurs, and changemakers — and among them is Akosua Brown, the founder of What’s Your Story – Author Services. For more than three years, Akosua has run her thriving business from the Cotton Factory, becoming not only a trusted editor and coach to her clients but also an inspiration to many within our coworking community.

With over 25 years of experience in the publishing industry, Akosua brings a rare depth of knowledge, creativity, and compassion to her work. She helps authors write, edit, publish, and share their books, guiding both first-time writers and seasoned storytellers through the deeply personal and transformative journey of bringing a story to life. Her background includes working with major educational publishers, editing for the World Health Organization, and even founding her own publishing house focused on Canadian history. Her best-selling book Sir John A. Macdonald: The Rascal Who Built Canada is just one example of her dedication to making stories accessible, meaningful, and impactful.

Since setting up her workspace in the Cotton Factory, Akosua has helped a growing number of authors — including memoirists, fiction writers, and children’s book creators — to find their voice and complete their books. Her presence has enriched not just the writers she serves, but the creative energy of the CoWork space itself. Always generous with her time, knowledge, and encouragement, Akosua is a beacon of support to others around her.

Akosua is also the creator of WRITE NOW Club, a space where aspiring authors commit to finishing their books within a year, building accountability and community. And as a mentor with the Miracle Magnet Movement, she continues to advocate for self-expression, healing, and empowerment through storytelling.

We are proud to celebrate Akosua Brown as one of the exceptional businesses that call the Cotton Factory’s CoWork community home. Her work uplifts voices, builds confidence, and reminds us all that stories — especially our own — have the power to change lives.
